The primary mission of this ministry is to reach out in love to women who have been incarcerated, and help them to know God’s Word. Through teaching and encouraging, it is the hope that the women become Christians or reconnect with God. A secondary mission is to present the type of life style necessary to make positive choices once released.
Pierce Street Elementary School
Three years ago, in an attempt to be more present in the neighborhood in which Lee Acres Church stands, and also to be more proactive in our benevolence activities, a partnership with Pierce Street Elementary School was developed. Lee Acres serves both the school and the families whose children attend there in a variety of ways. School staff communicates when there is a particular need from a family and we try to meet that need. In addition, church members have served as test proctors, provided refreshments for the annual fun run, and provided replacement school supplies to teachers after Christmas break. The local missions ministry team is exploring additional ways to assist this neighborhood school family.
Every Saturday, those working with the Stone Soup ministry at Lee Acres gather to provide a noon meal to anyone in the community who is hungry. The meal is served at the Salvation Army from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.
